Part numbers and NSNs

When a requirement names an exact part number or a National Stock Number, that is what we quote. If we cannot supply it exactly, we say so before you award, not after.

Exact match first

Manufacturer part number

Quoted as written

We quote the manufacturer and part number on the line, sourced from the manufacturer or an authorized distributor, and name both on the quote.

National Stock Number

Matched to an approved source

For an NSN we quote the approved source listed for it — the manufacturer's CAGE and part number — with both the NSN and the part number shown. Anything else is offered only as a marked alternate.

Salient characteristics

Brand name or equal

Where the requirement allows an equal, we show the item we propose, its manufacturer and part number, and how it meets each stated characteristic.

Alternates, only with your approval

We never substitute silently. If the exact item is discontinued, restricted or unavailable in time, the quote says so and offers an alternate as a separate, clearly marked line.

  • The alternate is named by manufacturer and part number, never described loosely.
  • Differences from the specified item are listed, not left for you to find.
  • Nothing ships as an alternate unless the order accepts it in writing.

Documentation that ships with the item

  • Manufacturer and part number on the packing list, matching the quote line
  • Country of origin for every line
  • Certificate of conformance where the order accepts one
  • Safety data sheets for hazardous materials
  • Item marking and unique identification where the order calls for it

Obsolete or hard to find

Send it anyway. We will tell you whether the item is still available through an authorized channel, and quote it if it is.
